About Reuben Fisher
A recently retired software engineer, I have worked at a variety of Boston area software companies with experience on a wide range of projects involving object-oriented design and modeling, database management systems, repositories, development tools, web technologies, RESTful interfaces, and Agile/SCRUM.
I have generally been an individual contributor, but have also had technical lead, architectural, and project management roles. I've enjoyed working in environments where I can learn as well as mentor. As a software generalist, I value working collaboratively with a team that appreciates sharing the frustrations and victories of getting the code right.
For the past few years I have been volunteering as a school literacy coach with Literations, helping young students who are struggling with their reading skills to read fluently at their grade level.
Ellen Fisher Photography-Based Prints
My wife's artwork focuses on photography-based large scale images, with a central interest in exploring memory and perception.
She also directs Newton Fence Art, a year-round public art project.
Shir Hadash
I am a long-time, active member of Shir Hadash, a Reconstructionist Havurah meeting in Newton Center. I also developed and maintain their website.
Never Too Late Basketball
It's been a while, but I've enjoyed playing basketball with NTL, off and on, for about 5 years. NTL offers a coached workout and scrimmages that provide a great way to strengthen your individual and team basketball skills.
An Ode To Reuben Clamzo
My site's logo, the clam, is a reference to the ballad, The Story of Reuben Clamzo, by my favorite folk singer, Arlo Guthrie. You can hear it and other Arlo favorites on You Tube.
